After the terrible setback of Vidaamuyarchi, Ajith Kumar has made a comeback with Good Bad Ugly (GBU), directed by Adhik Ravichandran, which was released in theaters on May 1st.
GBU received mixed responses from audiences. Despite the reviews, GBU has been doing remarkably well at the box office.

According to Bollywood media figures for the Top Grossing Tamil movies in Tamil Nadu list, GBU, with ₹146 crore collection, has acquired the 7th position.
Vijay’s Leo, with ₹232 crore, secures the first position, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan-1, with ₹222 crore, holds the second position, Vijay’s The Greatest Of All Time acquires the 3rd position.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer, with ₹191 crore, is in the 4th position, and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, with ₹181 crore, has secured the 5th position and it remains to be seen whether GBU crosses the Vikram’s final collection in Tamilnadu.
However, GBU’s Tamil Nadu distributors have posted that it has collected around ₹172 crore in Tamil Nadu after its second weekend.

Following this, some trade experts commented that distributors usually post inflated collection numbers to satisfy the actor and his fans.
Nevertheless, GBU has become the highest-grossing movie for Ajith Kumar in his entire career, both in Tamil Nadu and in all other states.
