Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, directed by Shankar, hit theaters on July 12th last year but ended up as a major disaster at the box office.

Originally planned as a single film, Indian 2 was later split into two parts due to its extended runtime. The film concluded with a lead-in to Indian 3, but a few crucial scenes still remain to be shot. Additionally, both Kamal Haasan and director Shankar are yet to receive their full remuneration.

Due to the heavy losses incurred from Indian 2, reports previously suggested that Lyca Productions had opted out of backing Indian 3.

However, strong buzz now suggests that Kamal Haasan has stepped in with a generous offer—he has reportedly agreed to take a pay cut for Indian 3 and has also proposed doing a cost-efficient action film for Lyca.

Earlier rumors hinted that Lyca Productions was on the verge of shutting down, following back-to-back flops. Now, Kamal Haasan’s gesture seems like a major lifeline for the struggling production house.

While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, industry insiders are eager to see if the additional film offered by Kamal is the much-discussed Anbariv actioner or an entirely new script. Either way, fans are hopeful that Indian 3 might just be back on track.
