Thangalaan, starring Vikram in the lead and directed by Pa Ranjith, was released in theatres on August 15th and acquired mixed responses from audiences and critics. Now the movie has collected more than 100 crores in the global box office, and this has officially been confirmed by the production house.
Thangalaan is a historical adventure film set in the backdrop of the true events that happened around the lives of people who worked as mine workers in the Kolar Gold Fields. This movie has star-studded actors, which include Vikram, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and many others. The musical album of this movie was composed by GV Prakash Kumar, and KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green Productions produced this movie.
Thangalaan didn’t perform as well as expected due to the mixed responses from the audience. As per reports, the movie almost dipped in the second week. Now the production team has officially confirmed that the movie has collected more than 100 crores in the global box office. Many audiences were tweeting that this movie wasn’t a blockbuster success and also that the occupancy of the movie was very poor after the first weekend. Amongst these responses, even though the movie has collected 100 crores, the budget of this movie is said to be around 140 crores. Considering the budget, it still isn’t a successful venture for the production house, say trackers and reporters.
Anyhow, Vikram was struggling; his last theatrical hit was I, which was released in the year 2015; after that, most of his movies ended up being average ones like Thangalaan. Let us hope his next movie, Veera Dheera Sooran, will give him the much-needed comeback.
