Indian-2, which was released on July 12th, received mixed responses from audiences and critics. Due to this, the team has trimmed 12 minutes from the runtime. This is just unfair! Starting from Valimai till Indian 2, some movies were trimmed in runtime once they got negative reviews.
The first-day audiences and the Ardent fans of actors always try to watch their favourite actor’s movie on the first days of its release. If the movie team changes their run time after negative reviews, then what about the first-day audiences who watched the whole movie without any trimmings? Whether the movie team considers the Ardent fans as lab rats? Once they accept the whole movie, then it’s okay; if they share negative reviews, then it’s trimmed. This is not a good sign for an industry.
This actually started with Ajith Kumar’s Valimai movie. The run time of this movie was almost 3 hours. After getting negative reviews, the movie team has trimmed some scenes for the fast pace of the movie. Then came some movies, such as Karthi’s Dev, Director Hari’s Yaanai movie starring Arun Vijay, Vikram’s Cobra movie, and now the recently released Indian-2.
These run-time trims after the release of the movie have been happening only for the past few years. Previously, if there was a negative review for the movie, the team would accept it and not do any such activities. This is not a good thing to practice, and considering the Kollywood industry standards, any movie releasing should not make any sort of changes after the release.
