A Reddit post about a couple’s horrible experience with Ryanair is now going viral, as they are still waiting for compensation nearly a year after their flight was delayed and then cancelled.
Their flight from Madrid to London Stansted on July 19, 2024, was first delayed for over 20 hours and then cancelled around 2:40 AM.

The couple, aged 27 and 28, were boarded and deboarded multiple times. They had to sit inside a hot aircraft for over 40 minutes twice, with no air conditioning and temperatures above 30°C. They were finally told the flight was cancelled in the middle of the night.
Ryanair blamed a Microsoft outage, but airport staff reportedly told passengers the real problem was a technical issue with the plane’s pressure meter. A technician had to be flown in from Ireland, making it a Ryanair-specific problem.

Under EU rules, if the delay is due to internal faults and not an external event, passengers have the right to be compensated. But Ryanair has refused, sticking to the IT failure excuse.
Commenters on Reddit were furious. One said this shows how airlines use vague reasons to avoid paying what they owe. Another advised the couple to go to court, saying it is slow but worth it if you have evidence.

Others pointed out how hard it is for ordinary people to get justice when airlines hide behind loopholes. Many feel this kind of delay and lack of responsibility should not be normal.
Time is valuable. Money is hard earned. This delay shows a deep lack of care for passengers. Airlines must be held to higher standards.
