Lufthansa Flyer Hit With Double Bag Fee, No Refund

Lufthansa passenger double bag charge

A Lufthansa passenger has reported being charged twice for a checked bag on an October flight. The issue began when they tried to pay through the Lufthansa app and received an error saying the payment had not been processed.

After refreshing the app, the passenger attempted the payment again. This time the transaction went through. Later, both charges appeared on their credit card statement, confirming that the first attempt had also gone through.

Lufthansa denies the double charge

The passenger contacted Lufthansa for a refund, but the airline repeatedly claimed that the second transaction did not show on their system. With no progress, the passenger filed a chargeback through their credit card company.

Airline insists two bags were checked

In response, Lufthansa produced two receipts and stated that both payments were valid since two bags had been checked. The passenger maintains that only one bag was checked on the journey, making the claim inaccurate.

Passenger loses the dispute

The credit card company later sided with Lufthansa. The passenger’s appeal was rejected due to a lack of evidence, even though only one bag had been used. They have now lost $75 with no resolution.

A concern over customer service

The case raises questions about transparency and customer care. Lufthansa’s refusal to acknowledge the double charge has left the passenger disappointed and frustrated.
