Passengers across Malaysia are facing major travel disruptions after 16 domestic flights were cancelled this week. The sudden cancellations have affected several key routes operated by Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, and other carriers, leaving travellers frustrated.
Major Airports Affected
Several major airports including Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Sibu, Miri, and Kuching have reported flight disruptions. These cancellations have also interrupted connections between popular tourist destinations such as Langkawi, Mulu, Lahad Datu, and Labuan.
Routes Hit by Cancellations
Kuala Lumpur International Airport confirmed two flight cancellations to Langkawi, while Kota Kinabalu saw multiple disruptions on routes to Mulu and Lahad Datu. Langkawi Airport also cancelled several return flights to Kuala Lumpur, affecting both morning and evening schedules.
Travel Chaos in East Malaysia
In Sarawak, Sibu and Miri airports faced route cancellations, cutting down connectivity between key East Malaysian cities. The reduced number of flights has led to delays and long waiting times for many passengers.
Travellers Seek Alternatives
Passengers are now relying on official airline channels to stay updated and explore rebooking or refund options. However, the widespread cancellations have created confusion and logistical challenges for those travelling for business or tourism.
