Air travel across India turned chaotic after Microsoft Windows crashed, leaving airport systems paralysed. If travel plans were in place, delays and confusion likely followed. Check-in counters froze, boarding stalled, and thousands were stranded at airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
At Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, the impact worsened overnight. Between Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon, 33 flights were cancelled. Passengers argued with airline staff as updates stayed unclear, adding to tension inside packed terminals.
On December 2, nine outbound and five inbound flights from Hyderabad were cancelled. December 3 recorded seven departures and twelve arrivals called off. Those travelling to Sabararimala faced delays with no immediate alternatives available.
Several routes bore the brunt. Flights to Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Goa and Bhuwaneshwar were cancelled outright. Many passengers waited through the night without updates as ground staff struggled to restore disrupted systems and issue fresh schedules.
