Even the world’s most reputed airlines can falter, and for one couple flying with Singapore Airlines, the experience was nothing short of distressing. Their journey from Kathmandu to Brisbane turned into a drawn-out mess that left them stranded, misinformed, and without their baggage.
The trouble began with a delay on the Kathmandu to Singapore leg, causing them to miss their connecting flight to Brisbane.
Instead of a swift solution, they faced hours of confusion with no clear rebooking. Multiple false starts later, they were finally put on a Singapore to Sydney to Brisbane route, which is over 15 hours after the original flight. This led to a total delay of more than 24 hours.
To make matters worse, this rebooked route included a surprise baggage re-check in Sydney, a requirement never mentioned at the time of booking. This unnecessary complication led to one of their bags going missing. Two days later, it still had not turned up.
The delay also forced them to miss an important event they had been planning for months. Meanwhile, attempts to contact customer support have only added to their frustration.
No one has provided a clear answer about compensation or the status of the missing baggage. Escalation through chat support has gone nowhere.
Singapore Airlines has long been praised for its premium service, but in this case, the reality was a far cry from its reputation.
Delayed flights, lost luggage, and vague support channels have turned what should have been a seamless trip into a nightmare. The airline owes more than an apology. It owes action.
