The jet suddenly nosedived during a manoeuvre and crashed near the runway. Thick black smoke rose from the spot and was visible across the venue. Emergency teams reached immediately, but the pilot suffered fatal injuries. Authorities have not confirmed any ejection attempt.

Inquiry to find the cause

The Indian Air Force has ordered a court of inquiry to identify the cause. Early reports show that the crash happened mid display during a high performance manoeuvre. Investigators are examining all technical and human factors.

Possible G force impact

Aviation experts believe G induced Loss of Consciousness might be a factor. This condition occurs when high gravitational forces knock a pilot unconscious. At low altitudes, recovery becomes nearly impossible due to the limited time available.

Previous Tejas incident

This is the second recorded Tejas crash. The first took place in March 2024 near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, where the pilot ejected safely. Tejas is a light combat aircraft developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for air defence, close combat and ground strike roles.

Impact on the air show

The Dubai Air Show, held from 17 to 21 November, drew large crowds and international delegations. Many attendees witnessed the crash. The area has been secured and a full investigation is in progress.
