United Airlines has announced a major fleet expansion plan as part of its United Next strategy. The airline aims to induct over 250 aircraft by April 2028. This marks one of the largest expansion efforts in recent aviation history.
The plan includes both widebody and narrowbody aircraft. It also introduces new subfleets designed to enhance passenger experience. The focus is on improving comfort, efficiency, and connectivity across routes.
One of the key additions is the Airbus A321neo Coastliner. It is expected to operate on transcontinental routes with lie flat business class seating. Premium lounge access will also be part of the offering.
United Airlines also plans to deploy the Airbus A321XLR on international routes. These aircraft will replace older Boeing 757 planes. The move will help expand into smaller long haul markets.
In the regional segment, redesigned CRJ450 aircraft will be introduced. These will connect smaller cities to major hubs like Denver and Chicago. The aim is to strengthen regional connectivity.
The airline is also adding Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jets. These aircraft will feature upgraded interiors and premium suites. Enhanced in flight entertainment systems are also planned.
Initial services are expected on long haul routes such as San Francisco to Singapore. This reflects the airline’s focus on expanding global connectivity. More international routes may follow.
United Airlines is also investing in satellite based WiFi and improved onboard services. These upgrades aim to enhance overall passenger experience. Technology will play a key role in this transformation.
