There is a visible slowdown in the past one year in the tech business that is affecting hiring all across the world. Indians constitute a major pool of the tech talent working in some of the biggest companies across the world. A recent data reveal suggests that these big American companies did little to no hiring in India in 2023.
As per the reports, these companies saw a drop of 90 percent in active job posting in India in 2023. These companies include Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Netflix and Google. This suggests a virtual hiring pause by these companies in India.
The hiring at these companies is 98 percent down as compared to typical hiring volume in a year. Only 200 employees were offered jobs during the last one year by these companies. The slowdown in the tech industry is not limited to just American companies.
Hundreds of thousands of employees have been fired by these companies globally in the past one year. They are currently employing 150,000 workers in India. There has been a negative net addition in the workforce in the tech industry in the year 2023 which means more jobs were lost than created.
