According to investigators, complaints were received after applicants paid Sharma for immigration. They believed that Sharma would guarantee a smooth immigration process and a job abroad.

However, Sharma never provided applicants their visas. Neither did he refund the money he had taken from them.

Investigation of statements and bank records revealed the scale of the fraud. Sharma had received ₹37.94 in cash and bank transactions, all payments for visas he never provided.

Sharma will likely be booked under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This section covers cases of cheating and dishonesty over delivery of property.

This case is the latest among several uncovered by the Jammu Crime Branch. Similar situations were revealed regarding Portugese and Russian work and tourist visas.

Authorities have warned applicants to verify recruiters and employers before paying any money to them. The immigration process is also important to be understood before a consultant is paid.
