Indians opting for H-1B visas are falling for easy frauds online, one wonders if they are so vulnerable that anyone can scam them.
This question arises from an experience shared by an Indian professional on social media. The person claimed he paid for an interview date for his visa but ended up losing access to his account altogether.
He writes, “Now when I login it take me to the new login I did but I have not yet added my Passport number or my DS160 form number to it.” The Indian passport holder is living in Canada and paid “more than 500 CAD” and is now regretting it.
While the people were helpful in the comments and gave him suggestions there is no guarantee if he will be able to recover all the amount or not. If the pressure of getting a visa appointment wasn’t enough, he would have to live with the added anxiety of losing his savings.
When you are traveling to another country, you cannot be so naive to fall for these tricks. Even if you land your visa, who is to say you might not become a victim of Ponzi schemes and fraud in an alien country?
Especially being an IT professional, you have to be smart and know how to tackle these scammers that one may encounter every day on social media. And by his own admission, the user was “desperate” to get a visa and ended up falling on his face.
One should do their due diligence and not fall for such visa scams online. The appointment time may be long, but don’t take these “shortcuts” that are exploiting the dreams of thousands of Indians.
