In a tragic incident, an Indian immigrant named Darshil Thakkar, 24 year old lost his life in a hit-and-run crash that occurred near the Galleria in Houston.
According to Houston Police Department (HPD) officials, the victim was initially struck by a car and tragically dragged from a distance. The situation took an even more bizarre turn as the victim was subsequently hit multiple times by other vehicles, none of whose drivers bothered to stay at the scene.
HPD Sgt. David Rose stated that it’s possible the victim suffered additional impacts from a second vehicle after the initial collision. The incident came to light when a woman called the police, expressing concerns about the potential involvement of a person she knew in the crash.
Investigators, following leads, discovered a blood-covered car with a damaged windshield at an apartment complex approximately 14 miles away from the hit-and-run scene.
The victim, originally from India, adds a somber layer to the tragedy. Authorities are working diligently, alongside the FBI, to establish his identity. Meanwhile, the driver responsible for this callous hit-and-run faces a serious felony charge.
