Indian Scientist Wrongly Accused in $250M US Scam?

An Indian scientist is named the main accused in a huge scam in the United States. However, as more details have emerged, it has made this case more ambivalent.

Tridip Kumar Goswami, a scientist from Assam, denied any role in the US carbon credit scandal that led to losses worth $250 million. He is accused of manipulating data to secure carbon credits, an environment-friendly permit allowing the holder to emit a limited amount of carbon gasses.

Goswami insists that he is just a technical expert and denies any involvement in financial decisions. What is more shocking is he claims he hasn’t even received any legal notice yet and only learned about the case through media reports.

The US authorities claim that millions of investors were duped. But Goswami’s side of the story raises doubts about how much he was really involved.
