Mohammed Nizamuddin, a 32-year-old Master’s student, was shot dead by Santa Clara police earlier this month. Police said they responded to a 911 call in the area and found him allegedly attacking his roommate, which led them to fire four rounds.

Parents Reject Police Account

In Mahbubnagar, Nizamuddin’s parents said they only learnt of his death two weeks later, on September 18. They strongly denied the California police version, describing their son as a quiet, religious man who could never commit such violence.

Family Raises Harassment Concerns

The family claimed he was under stress from racial harassment at work. They also believe he may have called the police himself, fearing he was being poisoned. None of these details were mentioned in the official police statement.

Investigation Still Ongoing

US police confirmed that body-cam footage exists but it has not been released publicly. With both accounts remaining unverified, the investigation is still underway.

Family Seeks Justice

The family has demanded a fair and transparent probe, expressing fears of racial discrimination. They have also appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs to bring Nizamuddin’s mortal remains back from the hospital in Santa Clara.
