A viral video shows a US woman allegedly caught stealing goods worth Rs. 80 lakh from a store managed by an Indian man. The clip, now nearing nine lakh views, captures her pleading with the store owner not to send her to jail.
The angry Indian store manager confronts her, accusing her of stealing repeatedly for three years. “I gave you my store keys. You stole from me over and over,” he says, claiming to have solid proof for corporate authorities. The woman denies it at first, then breaks down, saying she has a young daughter and begs for mercy.
The video has triggered heated discussions on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter). Many users called out “double standards” in how media treats such cases based on race. One user wrote, “When whites do it, it never goes viral. But if it’s an Indian woman, the whole internet calls Indians scammers.”
This video follows a string of shoplifting cases involving Indian women in the US. In September, a Gujarati woman was caught stealing from a Target store and seen crying in police footage. Another woman in Illinois was arrested in July for stealing goods worth over Rs. 1 lakh.
