Anurag Kashyap has sparked a major discussion online after revealing his unpleasant experience with Netflix. The filmmaker said the platform pushed him into creative compromises, making it his worst work experience so far.
He added that several directors have already stepped away from Netflix because of similar interference. Speaking on a recent podcast, Anurag Kashyap said Netflix tries to control everything, including the cast, story and even the twists in a project.
He also compared Netflix with JioHotstar. According to him, Hotstar does not pretend to be elite and has always focused on mass content. His remarks have added more fuel to the ongoing debate about OTT platforms and their creative freedom.
Anurag Kashyap has earlier worked with Netflix on projects like Sacred Games and AK vs AK. He said many directors have now avoided the platform due to its involvement in the creative process. His recent film Nishaanchi released on Prime Video, and its sequel Nishaanchi 2 also arrived on the platform soon after.
