Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, is making his directorial debut with the Netflix original The Ba*ds of Bollywood, which will premiere on September 18. The much-awaited preview was launched on August 20, creating instant buzz online.
The preview begins with SRK’s monologue: “Bollywood is a city of dreams, but this city is not for everyone. In this world of broken dreams, some are born a star, and some are born a hero.” The dialogue sets the stage for a series filled with romance, drama, and high-octane action.
Aryan, who has long been described as a visionary, chose direction over acting for his debut. Proud father Shah Rukh Khan announced the preview on social media, writing, “Aap ne maanga aur Netflix ne poora kar diya… thoda zyaada ho gaya nahi? Par aadat daal lo… kyunki The Ba***ds of Bollywood preview is out today.”
The series is co-created by Aryan Khan, Bilal Siddiqi, and Manav Chauhan, and is backed by Red Chillies Entertainment. It follows the journey of an ambitious outsider and his friends as they navigate the glamorous yet cutthroat world of Bollywood.
The cast includes Lakshya Lalwani as rising star Aasmaan Singh and Raghav Juyal as his friend, reuniting the duo from Kill. Bobby Deol makes a powerful appearance as superstar Ajay Talvar, while cameos from Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, and others add spice and satire.
The teaser also drops controversial, tongue-in-cheek Bollywood references. From Salman Khan quipping “Party is bullshit” to Ranveer Singh shouting “Bohot Hard,” and even a constable saying, “After an actor comes out of jail, they become more famous,” the show teases unfiltered fun.
With its fast-paced storytelling, stylised chaos, self-aware humour, and unapologetic tone, Aryan Khan’s The Ba*ds of Bollywood promises to be Netflix’s most daring Indian original yet. Streaming starts on September 18, and expectations are sky-high.
