Everyone knows that Batwara 1947 is produced by Aamir Khan. It marks his first collaboration with Sunny Deol. Notably, the movie witnessed multiple delays, and the reality behind the delays is the alleged disputes between Sunny and Aamir.

An insider has claimed that an OTT platform approached the makers of the film to buy it for Rs. 60 crores. The movie was in development with the original title, Lahore 1947, during that period.

Aamir and Sunny opted for a business agreement where the latter would receive a share worth 50% of the profits accumulated by the film. Sunny was also happy with the deal. On the other hand, Aamir was looking at other things, including the release of Sitaare Zameen Par and the idea to bring it on YouTube, aiming to make the option of pay-per-view or video-on-demand popular.

Aamir eventually rejected the OTT offer as he wanted to depend on modern ideas. Sunny was eventually not satisfied with the same. Furthermore, the current OTT value of the film now stands at Rs. 30 crores due to the situation it is facing at the box office.

Netizens had a completely mixed opinion about this. While a few supported Sunny, others took Aamir’s side. Sunny’s fans believe that he was not wrong to depend on OTT since it is something that is being commonly followed by every filmmaker.

Aamir’s fans stood by his decision for modern methods, saying that if YouTube offers a film at an affordable rate, it is good for people who cannot visit theatres. However, a particular section responded to Aamir’s fans by saying that this is simply going to shut down the theatre business. They even claimed that a majority like to watch only free content on OTT instead of paying for it.

Some others believe that the dispute between Sunny and Aamir could be one of the reasons why they did not get enough time to analyse the content of the film and make it in a way that can appeal to the audience of today’s time.

As of now, there is a high chance that Sunny and Aamir might not work again. But all of these are speculations for now.
