Jio Hotstar brought up a feature in the latest IPL match that was never seen before. It was a highly inclusive gesture from the platforms but invited huge trolling.
During the match highlights, there is a new sign language commentary too. It is created for people who have difficulty in hearing. A sign language commentary for those with auditory challenges is a nice and sweet gesture and Jio Hotstar has taken a great risk with this inclusive action.
People are not liking the feature. Because the man translating the commentary into sign language has to take a certain amount of space in the screen and that makes the match screen smaller. Also, some netizens have found this highly distracting.
While we cannot blame the users for these complaints, Jio Hotstar is not in the wrong too. People want to watch the match highlights with a full screen and according to some the full screen match experience is more significant than the commentary.
It was a great initiative but has not gotten any support from users. Now we will have to see if the platform keeps the feature in spite of the trollings or makes some changes.
