South Indian OTT space is set to welcome two new exciting outings this weekend as two critically acclaimed films are heading for their OTT debut.
The two films are Kannur Squad and Chiththa. While Kannur Squal is a crime thriller featuring Malayali superstar Mammootty in the lead role, Chithha is a social drama with Siddharth in the lead role.
Kannur Squad was lauded by critics and it also set the Mallu box office on fire as it is one of the highest-grossing Malayali films of 2023.
ASI George Martin and his team, consisting of Jose, Jayan, and Shafi, known as the Kannur Squad, head out to search for a missing man in the Kannur-Virajpet forest area and discover him hanged, the plot of Kannur Squad reads. It is a mystery thriller.
As for Chithha, the film is a hard-hitting social drama and its plot reads “A man is raising his niece like his own daughter, and everything appears normal in their life until the little girl goes missing.”
Both the films had good critical acclaim going for them and could also perform well at the box office (Chithha is a good grosser in Tamil). More importantly, both of them are suited for OTT viewing. Both of them will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from 17 November.
