Jimmy Shergill and Lara Dutta’s web series Ranneeti is set to start streaming from April 25, 2024.
The series is inspired by a real life incident which became nationwide news. The series focuses on modern warfare, which people fought not on the field but on social media, which holds the power to shape a nation’s geo-politics.
The series is based on the aftermath of the Pulwama attack and the action taken by the Indian Air Force.
Shergill said in an interview, “It was immensely satisfying to be part of India’s first war-room focused web-series”.
Santosh Singh, the director of the series said that the climax of the scene was shot in the serbian parliament.
The director also added about shooting in Serbia that, “We have to inform seven countries around Serbia that there will be planes flying which are not scheduled so please do not shoot any plans down. It was a big thing, there was always a fear that what if an unscheduled plane flies and gets shoot”.
The series includes no fictional aspects to the story, 50 real tanks were used while shooting, and the director tried to keep most authentic.
Again the Serbian army people were dressed as the Indian army and did all the drills that were needed for the shoot.
