Things have heated up again for IRS officer Sameer Wankhede. The Delhi High Court has rejected the defamation suit filed by him over his alleged portrayal in the Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood. The development has once again brought him into the spotlight.
The court reportedly said it did not have the jurisdiction to hear the case. It declined to examine the merits of the petition. As a result, the suit was returned to be presented before a competent court.
According to ANI, the Delhi High Court asked Sameer Wankhede to approach the appropriate legal forum. This means the case has not been dismissed fully but cannot continue in the Delhi High Court. The legal battle may still move forward elsewhere.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had issued notices to Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment on October 8, 2025. The case was related to the portrayal of an officer in The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Sameer claimed the character closely resembled him.
Based on this, the court had directed Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment to file their responses. The dispute is linked to the Mumbai cruise drug raid in 2021. During that raid, Sameer Wankhede had arrested Aryan Khan.
Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, was cleared of all charges in 2022. He later went on to direct The Ba***ds of Bollywood, which released on September 18, 2025. This connection added more attention to the controversy.
Now that the Delhi High Court has rejected Sameer’s plea on jurisdiction grounds, the next step remains unclear. It is yet to be seen how he will respond. The case is expected to take a new legal direction.
