The court battle between Red Chillies Entertainment and former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede is getting intense. After Wankhede filed a defamation case against the production house, Red Chillies has submitted its official response.
The makers argued that the series is a satire on Bollywood and uses exaggerated characters purely for humour. They claimed the portrayal is not meant to target any real person.
Red Chillies also stated that Wankhede‘s reputation came under scrutiny back in 2021 during the Aryan Khan drug case. They said the lawsuit reflects hypersensitivity and suggested the officer was already criticised publicly before this show.
They further added that removing the questioned scenes would break the flow of the story and impact the creative vision. They insisted the show never names Wankhede directly and the cop character is a common satire trope used globally.
The case has now been adjourned to November 10, with both sides set to present more arguments. As this case deals with artistic freedom and satire, the entertainment industry is watching closely.
Only time will reveal how the court balances creative expression with claims of defamation.
