As with any film, once it lands on streaming, OTT reviews from subscribers start pouring in on social media, and the same is happening now with Sankranthiki Vasthunam on ZEE5.

However, what surprised everyone was the assumption that ZEE5 has a minimal presence in the Telugu market, leading to the expectation that there wouldn’t be much chatter about OTT reviews. Since platforms like Netflix and Prime Video dominate the space, many believed that Sankranthiki Vasthunam’s arrival on ZEE5 wouldn’t generate much discussion.
Yet, contrary to expectations, a significant number of reviews are flooding social media, especially on Twitter.

A quick look at the hashtag #SankranthikiVasthunam makes that clear. As expected, most OTT reviews are unanimous, leaning heavily in one direction, which aligns with the film’s content nature.
However, what’s truly surprising is the sheer volume of reviews, challenging the general perception that ZEE5 lacks reach in the Telugu market.

This raises an interesting question—did all these viewers actually buy a subscription just to watch this film? Or is it because there isn’t much other content attracting Telugu audiences to ZEE5, making them subscribe for a single film? Or are many of them watching it through piracy and taking to social media to post their OTT reviews? This unexpected level of engagement is indeed a surprise.
