The official trailer of Neeraj Pandey’s new series Taskaree is out and has sparked strong interest online. The preview brings back familiar elements from his earlier work and sets the tone for a tense investigative thriller rooted in crime and enforcement.
The trailer opens with Mumbai Customs officials seizing smuggled goods worth 1,200 crore. The operation is projected as a major success and a serious blow to a powerful smuggling network that has operated unchecked for years.
The story then introduces three officers tasked with cracking the case. Emraan Hashmi plays Arjun Meena, Amruta Khanvilkar appears as Mitali Kamath, and Nandish Singh Sandhu essays Ravinder Gujjar. They are shown as driven officers committed to dismantling organised crime.
Their investigation leads them to the Choudhary Syndicate, headed by Sharad Kelkar’s character Bada Choudhary. The trailer highlights confrontations, strategy, and mounting pressure as the team closes in on the syndicate’s operations.
Audience response to the trailer has been mixed. Some viewers are excited by the setup and performances, while others feel the tone closely resembles Neeraj Pandey’s earlier series Special Ops, raising concerns about creative repetition.
There is also attention on Emraan Hashmi, who recently earned praise for his performance in Haq. Viewers are keen to see how he approaches this role and whether Taskaree allows him to explore new layers.
A section of viewers has compared the show’s style to Netflix’s English series Carry On, noting a similar investigative rhythm with a desi flavour. These comparisons have added to the discussion around originality and execution.
The biggest question remains whether Taskaree will help Neeraj Pandey regain his earlier acclaim. With mixed reactions to Special Ops Season 2 and Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, expectations are cautious but curious.
Directed by Raghav Jairath, the series features Emraan Hashmi, Sharad Kelkar, Amruta Khanvilkar, Nandish Singh Sandhu, Anurag Sinha, and Zoya Afroz. Taskaree is set to premiere on Netflix on January 14, 2026.
