Aamir Khan is making his big-screen comeback after three years with Sitaare Zameen Par, the much-awaited sequel to Taare Zameen Par.
The film, directed by RS Prasanna, has received a U/A certificate from the CBFC and runs for 2 hours and 39 minutes.

Initially planned for a limited release, the film will now open wide across India on about 3,250 screens, a significant boost from the earlier plan of 1,000 to 1,500 screens.
Advance bookings started on Wednesday morning, but the response so far has been on the lower side for an Aamir Khan starrer, with around 20,000 tickets sold in the top national chains by Thursday afternoon.

The final pre-release ticket sales in these chains are expected to touch 45,000, while bookings outside major metros remain modest.
Over 6,400 shows are scheduled across the country on opening day, ensuring the film is widely accessible.

Given the current booking trends and the scale of release, Sitaare Zameen Par is likely to collect between Rs 8.5 crore and Rs 9.5 crore net on its first day, which is about a crore higher than the most widely quoted industry predictions.
While this isn’t the kind of explosive start seen with some of Aamir’s previous films, the hope is that strong word of mouth and family audiences will drive growth over the weekend.
The film’s long-term box office fate will depend on audience appreciation and a significant jump in collections on Saturday and Sunday.
