Aamir’s Biggest PR Stunt Yet? Genuine or OTT Drama?

Aamir Khan Sitaare Zameen Par Netflix Deals

Aamir Khan is busy promoting his upcoming Sitaare Zameen Par, slated for release on 20 June, 2025, but the internet seems to be more
concerned about the film’s digital distribution rather than its theatrical run.

Initially, Aamir had plans to release the film on YouTube via a pay-per-view model after its eight-week theatrical run.

This decision was made in hopes of making the film more accessible to a wider audience, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities where
subscription-based OTT platforms aren’t much in demand.

Later it was reported that Netflix increased its bid for the film’s digital rights from Rs 50-60 crore to a staggering Rs 125 crore in
order to secure exclusive streaming rights.

Following this, PR articles suggested that Aamir might release the movie for free on YouTube, but now speculations are that the film
won’t be released digitally at all.

This whole fiesta is getting more complicated than the film, and the audience is left confused about whether they should buy a subscription
or wait around for the film to be released for free.

The conflicting reports have created widespread speculation on social media, where some users view the controversy as nothing more than a
strategic PR stunt to generate buzz around the film’s release.

A Netflix insider has denied these reports, labeling them “absolutely false” and dismissing the news as baseless rumors.

Despite the controversy, neither Aamir nor anyone from the team has provided a clarifying statement regarding the film’s fate post its
theatrical run.

As the film edges closer to its release, the makers appear keen to steer clear of any PR mishaps.

It’s likely that the digital release strategy will be kept a secret—at least until audience reactions roll in and the film’s theatrical
performance sets the tone for its digital journey.
