Horror-Comedy Director’s Next: Superhero Karna Film

Aditya Sarpotdar’s Karna superhero film

Filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, best known for his horror-comedy hits, is now turning toward a completely new genre. After Munjya and the upcoming Thamma, he is set to direct a large-scale superhero film inspired by the Mahabharata warrior Karna.

Produced by Murad Khetani under Cine1 Studios, the film is described as a mythological superhero saga. Khetani’s production house has backed major blockbusters like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Animal, and Kabir Singh, and this project aims to continue that streak.

Aditya, who built a successful horror-comedy universe with Maddock Films, now plans to bring the same creative energy to this ambitious mythological story. The project is expected to blend Indian mythology with modern cinematic scale and cutting-edge visual effects.

The story of Karna has captivated generations with its mix of strength, destiny, and heartbreak. Born with divine armor and earrings that made him invincible, Karna’s moral complexity makes him an ideal hero for a reimagined modern-day superhero tale.

In Aditya’s vision, Karna will emerge as a character rooted in mythology but designed for a contemporary audience. The film is expected to merge traditional Indian storytelling with a fresh superhero identity that appeals to both young and nostalgic viewers.

This project also reflects Indian cinema’s growing trend of creating superhero stories grounded in cultural heritage. Recent films like Stree, Thamma, Ramayana, and Lokah have shown how mythological themes can be adapted into modern narratives.

Although the cast and release date remain under wraps, industry experts believe the Aditya Sarpotdar–Murad Khetani collaboration will deliver a visually striking and emotionally rich cinematic experience.
