Worst Fears Come True: Akshay Okays SV Remake

Akshay Kumar confirms Sankranthiki Vastunnam remake

Reports of Akshay Kumar remaking Sankranthiki Vastunnam are finally turning out to be true. The film will be a reimagined version of the Telugu blockbuster, directed by Anees Bazmee, who is now officially onboard for the project.

According to an insider, Akshay and Anees were drawn to the original’s storyline and plan to tweak it for Hindi audiences. While the core plot stays the same, the remake will include several new elements to make it more entertaining.

The source added that the upcoming version will be grander and funnier than the original. Writing has already begun, and filming is expected to start next year once the scripting and casting are finalised.

Bazmee’s expertise in comedy has been proven through several hits, and fans believe his collaboration with Akshay could revive the actor’s comic timing. However, the challenge lies in matching or surpassing the charm of Sankranthiki Vastunnam.

At the same time, users online are questioning Bazmee’s busy schedule. He is already working on No Entry sequel, Ram Aur Shyam, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4. Many wonder if he can handle another big project without compromising quality.

Some fans are also unhappy with Akshay choosing another remake. They argue that Sankranthiki Vastunnam was made specifically for Telugu audiences under Anil Ravipudi’s direction, whose humour may not translate well in Hindi.

Viewers recalled Akshay’s earlier remakes like Cutputtli and Laxmii, saying that remakes rarely click anymore as audiences prefer original scripts. Yet, with Dil Raju producing, the film carries major expectations within the industry.

It now depends on whether Anees and Akshay can deliver a refreshing, laughter-filled entertainer that lives up to both fan hopes and box office expectations.
