SV Remake: Impossible to Repeat Ravipudi Madness?

Sankranthiki Vasthunam Hindi remake plans

Sankranthiki Vasthunam stands tall as the biggest blockbuster of 2025, driven by Venkatesh’s brilliant comic timing, Anil Ravipudi’s energetic direction, and the festive Sankranti release. Despite not being a pan-India film, it broke several records with just its Telugu release.

Anil Ravipudi transformed a simple plot into a laugh riot. His mix of family emotions, regional humour, and mass appeal made it a festival favourite. But the same local flavour makes the film nearly impossible to recreate for other language audiences, which explains the lack of a remake so far.

Recent buzz hints at a Hindi remake featuring Akshay Kumar, with Dil Raju likely to produce it. Earlier, Dil Raju had considered remaking F2 in Hindi with Arjun Kapoor replacing Varun Tej, but that plan never took off.

Reports suggest changes are being planned to suit North Indian tastes, though the director remains undecided. Since comedy drives Sankranthiki Vasthunam, the remake will need someone who understands both humour and timing well.

Rohit Shetty and Anees Bazmee may seem like obvious choices, yet replicating Anil Ravipudi’s brand of madness is no easy task. Ravipudi himself appears uninterested in handling the Hindi version. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is said to be pushing Priyadarshan to consider directing the remake, though nothing is confirmed.

No official announcement has been made yet, but recreating the Sankranthiki Vasthunam magic for Hindi audiences seems nearly impossible. While old Telugu hits like Pellam Oorelithe and Ready worked in Hindi, audience preferences have changed over time.

To win over today’s viewers, the remake must retain the humour and heart of the original while adapting cultural references and emotions carefully. Yet, the effort to replicate Ravipudi’s energy may outweigh the payoff. Creating an original film might simply be the smarter choice.
