The condition of Aamir Khan over the last eight years has now left audiences concerned. While the other two Khans have understood the needs of the viewers and are choosing projects by following the same, Aamir is still struggling to leave an impression like he used to.
After Dangal, people expected Aamir to deliver another blockbuster with Thugs of Hindostan. Unfortunately, the story and screenplay failed to meet the expectations. The situation of Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022 was worse, where even a cameo by SRK could not help it from sinking at the box office.
Although Sitaare Zameen Par was considered to be his best work after Dangal, the film could not generate the buzz that was needed. The word-of-mouth was mixed, along with footfalls of less than Rs. 1 crore.
Produced by Aamir, Happy Patel arrived without any big promotions and left the theatres without audiences even noticing the film. Then there was Ek Din, which suffered from a similar problem, including the fact that it was a remake. Batwara 1947 is out now in theatres. Despite being produced by Aamir’s production house, it has failed to get a big opening.
Netizens reacted by saying that Aamir’s biggest problem is the confidence that he has shown on multiple occasions. Social media users stated that although Aamir has promised to deliver a lot during the conversations, the results have always been the worst, which means that he is not analysing anything before giving promises to the audience.
On the other hand, Aamir’s fans had a very different opinion. They believe that his choice of films is impacting his career. A few fans even stated that action is a genre that Aamir has very less experimented with. Notably, his last action film was Ghajini, and fans now want him to enter that genre.
A few even gave the example of SRK. They recalled the fact that when SRK’s romantic hero image did not work with films like Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero, he immediately shifted to mass entertainers with scripts that had elements to keep audiences engaged and directors who had a good track record.
The current situation has hinted that Aamir is possibly not taking a lesson from the failures and successes the film industry has witnessed over the last few years. Only time will tell if he is going to take the feedback seriously or prefer to do what he wants to.
