The latest song from Cocktail 2, titled Mashooqa, is out now. The track is sung by Raghav Chaitanya, Ruaa Kayy, and Mahmood, with music composed by Pritam and Mahmood, and lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya and Mahmood.
The visuals of the song look very ordinary, and the lyrics are nothing special. Since the overall composition is quite routine, the song will not increase the buzz of the film by any means. There were reports earlier that the makers were reworking the entire album of the film. If this is the final result after the rework, then the team has clearly failed.
The makers also tried to hype the movie by claiming that it features Kriti’s hottest avatar yet. However, whatever footage has been released so far indicates that those claims were highly exaggerated, as she looks quite ordinary in the video. Still, there is a slight possibility that the team is saving the best moments for the actual film.
As of now, none of the released songs have clicked with the audience despite heavy paid promotions on social media. It seems Pritam’s music is not as effective as it used to be in the past. His last few albums were pretty average, and Bhooth Bangla was easily his worst work in recent times.
A romantic comedy without a hit music album is always bound to fail because soulful music helps the emotional scenes connect better with the viewers. On top of that, an oversaturation of the rom com genre is also impacting the film. People are simply not interested in stepping out in this harsh summer heat just to watch a routine romance.
