Indian cinema is fully embracing the culture of biopics, and it has been the case for nearly the last decade or so. Now we have another addition for the upcoming biopic of legendary Indian cricketer, Sourav Ganguly.
This film has been entitled, Dada and the first look post of the same has been released today on the occasion of Ganguly’s birthday.
This could perhaps be considered the worst possible start of the promotional campaign of the film as the poster lacks the vibe and vibrancy that is expected from biopic of charismatic personality like Ganguly.
Ganguly is a rare blend of passive aggression and elegant charm, and he was regarded as the prince of Indian cricket, which reflects his insane aura at that point in time. Replicating, this is an extremely tough task for anyone, let alone the case of Rajkumar Rao, who is playing Ganguly in this biopic.
This poster has already opened to very mixed reactions on social media as people are unable to process this image as the legendary Ganguly. The charm and elegance of the legendary Kolkata cricketer are nowhere matched here in this picture.
The makers have communicated that this film would be releasing in theatres worldwide on 14 May next year, and we have to see if they can build a reasonably strong promotional campaign by then.
