A latest news about Golmaal 5 reveals that Deepika Padukone is joining the cast for a special cameo. As per the source, she will return as Inspector Shakti Shetty, the character she played in Singham Again.
In this new story, Shakti Shetty is on a hunt for Akshay Kumar’s bald character who has escaped from her custody, and she is determined to bring him back. The cameo will likely happen during the climax, where she makes a grand entry and captures him with the help of Ajay Devgn and his gang.
While the idea of seeing these stars together is fun, the logic is a bit messy. In Rohit Shetty’s famous Cop Universe, both Akshay and Deepika play high ranking police officers. Since Akshay plays Sooryavanshi, it makes no sense for Deepika’s character to be arresting him like a common criminal. Even if Akshay is not playing Sooryavanshi, his facial resemblance will make it hard to believe the situation that people of the same face exist in the same universe.
Cops are supposed to be on the same team in these movies. Also, Golmaal is a comedy series that usually stays away from the serious drama of the police world. Having a hero like Akshay being arrested by Shakti Shetty creates a lot of confusion for the audience.
It feels like the creators are trying to force a crossover that does not quite fit the established rules of the universe. Rohit Shetty also did the same mistake in Cirkus by connecting with Golmaal franchise to that film and the result is known to all.
