Emraan Hashmi’s Comeback Just Got Bigger

Emraan Hashmi Awarapan 2

Emraan Hashmi needed a film like Awarapan 2. The actor has been around for years, but his position as a solo hero at the box office had become a question mark. That has changed now.

Awarapan 2 has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in India, making it Emraan’s first solo Rs 100 crore film. The film collected around Rs 100.75 crore net in five days, with its India gross at Rs 120.33 crore and worldwide gross touching Rs 144.13 crore.

The timing makes this success even more important for Emraan. He was once one of Bollywood’s familiar hit-making faces, especially during the phase when his films and songs regularly found an audience. But the theatrical results in recent years did not offer the same confidence, and the talk around his career as a leading man had started getting louder.

Interestingly, the original Awarapan did not become a big theatrical hit in 2007. The film found its audience later and slowly developed a cult following. That goodwill has now worked strongly in favor of the sequel.

From doubts over his box-office pull to his first solo Rs 100 crore film, Emraan Hashmi has delivered a comeback worth noticing.
