Released in 2017, Kaabil marked the first collaboration between Sanjay Gupta and Hrithik Roshan. The film was backed by Rakesh Roshan under FilmKraft Productions. Despite clashing with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, Kaabil performed strongly at the box office and won audience appreciation.
In a recent interaction with Variety India, Sanjay Gupta confirmed that the script for Kaabil 2 is ready. He said he is waiting for the Roshans to approve the project. According to him, the team can begin work immediately after getting the green signal.
Sanjay also expressed confidence about making the sequel bigger and better. He stated that a sequel must surpass the original in impact. His comments created excitement among fans who are keen to see Hrithik Roshan reprise the iconic role.
At the same time, attention remains on Krishh 4, which is Hrithik’s directorial debut. Reports suggest that YRF has shelved the film due to budget disagreements. This has led to speculation about whether Hrithik might prioritise Kaabil 2 instead.
Many fans believe Kaabil 2 could be a strong comeback project. Hrithik faced trolling after WAR 2 underperformed at the box office, where he starred opposite Jr. NTR. Supporters feel a sequel to Kaabil may reconnect him with audiences.
The original Kaabil featured Yami Gautam, Ronit Roy, Rohit Roy, Akhilendra Mishra, Narendra Jha, Suresh Menon and Girish Kulkarni in key roles. So far, neither Hrithik nor FilmKraft Productions has issued an official statement. Industry insiders, however, remain hopeful about a positive update soon.
