The ongoing dispute around Don 3 has taken a fresh turn. Ranveer Singh has reportedly alleged that Excel Entertainment tried to replace him with Hrithik Roshan.
According to media reports, Ranveer raised the issue at a meeting held under the Producers Guild. Several industry members were present, including Aamir Khan, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ramesh Taurani.
Ranveer reportedly described Excel Entertainment as unprofessional. He claimed the makers explored replacing him with Hrithik Roshan despite him being locked in earlier for the film.
A report by Bollywood Hungama stated that a producer at the meeting alleged Ranveer was unhappy with delays. He reportedly said Farhan Akhtar did not have a bound script ready.
Earlier, a Reddit post on r slash bollyBlindsNGossip claimed producers were hesitant to invest when Ranveer Singh was finalised. The post suggested that Farhan began exploring alternatives.
Reports indicate Farhan later approached Hrithik Roshan for advice. The discussions allegedly turned into script narrations and Hrithik agreed to the role after liking the material.
Following this, Hrithik and Ranveer reportedly approached Jio Studios, which was preparing to release Dhurandhar starring Ranveer Singh.
After Dhurandhar’s reported success, Farhan is said to have reconnected with Ranveer. However, insiders suggest Ranveer felt hurt over the earlier move involving Jio Studios without his knowledge.
Negotiations over acting fees reportedly failed. Both sides could not reach a middle ground and parted ways, pushing Don 3 back into uncertainty.
At present, Don 3 stands delayed indefinitely. Farhan Akhtar is reportedly searching again for an actor who can headline the film as his ambitious magnum opus.
