Karan Johar’s Dostana 2 is finally scheduled to arrive in theatres. A sequel to the 2008 hit, sources have confirmed that Vikrant Massey and Lakshya would play the lead roles in the upcoming film.
An insider stated that although the script has been in development for a long time, the makers have already found an idea that is expected to entertain the audience. Moreover, the film will feature a new actress, marking a new debut in Bollywood.

The source also stated that the film is supposed to go on floors by January next year and the makers are aiming to bring it to the big screen by the end of 2026. The film’s release in theatres has also created headlines as the makers were reportedly planning to bring it directly on Netflix.
The insider said that the producers are talking to the filmmakers and a director shall be finalized soon.

While nothing much can be said about the sequel for now, everything will be dependent on the script and other entertaining elements the makers are planning to add.
The first part was a big hit due to the comedy sequences and the performances of the three leads, John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, and Priyanka Chopra.

Another factor that contributed to the film’s success was chartbuster songs, with Shut Up & Bounce and Desi Girl being played on many occasions until today.
Dostana 2 needs a similar treatment, and the makers have to find a director who knows how to present everything perfectly on screen. Moreover, the producers can also opt to bring back Vishal-Shekhar to compose the soundtrack if they are willing to attract crowds to theatres.
