
In recent times, franchise films have lost their charm and no longer hold the appeal they once did. Adding to this trend, Kartik Aaryan is now joining hands with Karan Johar for a high-concept comedy franchise.
Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and produced by Karan Johar alongside Mahaveer Jain, the film is set to begin shooting in September and is slated for release in the second half of 2026.

Allegedly, this film was initially offered to Akshay Kumar, who was considering the project but ultimately rejected it.
While it seems like a logical decision, given Akshay already has multiple comedy films lined up, it also appears that Kartik Aaryan is picking up projects that Akshay Kumar has turned down.

This isn’t the first time Kartik Aaryan has taken on films that were initially offered to Akshay Kumar.
Reports suggest that Akshay Kumar was the first choice for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, but after he declined, Kartik Aaryan was cast instead.

Similarly, Akshay was approached for a film titled Maal, which he also rejected, leading to Kartik Aaryan being considered for the role.
Another notable instance was Hera Pheri 3- a project Akshay Kumar almost passed on to Kartik Aaryan before eventually deciding to do it himself.
This new comedy franchise will mark Kartik Aaryan’s second release in 2026, following Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
It will be interesting to see whether Kartik Aaryan can successfully lead a high-concept comedy franchise or if it will meet the same fate as other franchise films struggling to make an impact today.
