Shah Rukh Khan’s King recently came into the headlines when some reports claimed that it has turned out to be one of the most expensive films of the superstar’s career. An insider claimed that the budget has touched the mark of almost Rs. 450 crores.
The source said that all the money has been spent to bring a cinematic experience that won’t disappoint anyone. The insider even claimed that audiences will get to see every penny spent by the makers on screen.
Meanwhile, director Siddharth Anand has now responded to the rumours, claiming that they are not true. He shared a post on X on July 8, 2026, simply writing “False.” However, he did not explain anything else in the post, seemingly opting to keep himself away from any controversies or debates.
Netizens also reacted by saying that it was an unnecessary report since the budget won’t matter much if the content is up to the mark. A particular section even claimed that it was some kind of publicity stunt from the side of the makers, aiming to create buzz for the upcoming film.
SRK’s fans intervened by saying that just because the film has multiple actors, a lot of action, and has been shot in several countries, it does not mean that its budget is going to be Rs. 450 crores. Some clarified that excluding the fees of SRK, the movie is expected to be made between Rs. 200-250 crores.
A few others also alleged that the claim was possibly shared by the PR team of other actors, who aim to damage the reputation and career of SRK in any way possible.
As of now, the false report has still managed to bring people’s attention back to King. But the real question that remains right now is whether King will emerge as another big blockbuster of 2026 after Dhurandhar.
