Before Aamir, This Big Biopic Was Meant for SRK?

Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan Lalkara buzz

Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker are set to collaborate on Lalkara, a film based on the life of legendary cricketer Lala Amarnath. The project also reunites Aamir Khan with Rajkumar Hirani, who is associated with the film as a producer.

Meanwhile, fresh reports suggest that the same biopic was once planned with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. According to online sources, Rajkumar Hirani had reportedly discussed the project with SRK several years ago before it eventually moved in a different direction.

An insider claimed that Rajkumar Hirani approached Shah Rukh Khan with the idea after the releases of Zero and Sanju. However, the collaboration reportedly did not materialise. The COVID-19 pandemic and the development of Dunki are believed to have influenced the change in plans.

The project had also made headlines in 2019 when Taran Adarsh revealed that Rajkumar Hirani was considering two cricket-based films. One was reportedly based on the life of a legendary cricketer, while another script was being written by Abhijat Joshi.

The latest reports have sparked discussion among fans on social media. Many believe the Lala Amarnath biopic would have allowed Shah Rukh Khan to explore a different kind of role. Some fans also feel it could have offered a refreshing change from Dunki.

Others believe Aamir Khan is a strong choice for the project and are eager to see his interpretation of the legendary cricketer. At the same time, some Shah Rukh Khan fans have expressed hope that he focuses on action films after completing King.

For now, there has been no official confirmation regarding Shah Rukh Khan’s earlier association with the project. It remains to be seen whether more details emerge as Lalkara moves closer to production.
