Sanjay Leela Bhansali is once again making headlines, this time for recreating 1970s Italy in a Mumbai studio for his upcoming film Love And War. The filmmaker completed a 10-day schedule near Royal Palms, Goregaon, with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.
The film was initially planned for a 45-day shoot in Italy, but Bhansali decided to shift it to Mumbai for better control and fewer logistical issues. Staying true to his style, he built a stunning Italian club set that captures the luxury and elegance of the era. The shoot wrapped just before Diwali, and the team will return for the final 20-day climax schedule by the end of October.
After a few leaked clips featuring Alia Bhatt made their way online, Bhansali tightened security and restricted access on set to maintain secrecy. The film, set in the 1970s, revolves around a love triangle between Ranbir, Alia, and Vicky and is scheduled to release on March 19, 2026, aligning with Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, and Eid.
While many are praising Bhansali’s creative brilliance for building Italy inside Mumbai, others are questioning whether it was necessary, given the cost involved. Still, the buzz around Love And War continues to grow, and the director’s fans are eagerly waiting to see another visual masterpiece unfold on screen.
