Telugu horror-comedy Bakasura Restaurant is reportedly getting a Bollywood remake, and a big name is in talks for the lead role.
The original film told the story of a software engineer who dreams of opening a restaurant with his friends, only to find the place haunted by ghosts. Despite flopping at the box office, it later gained popularity on Prime Video, performing strongly on OTT.
This renewed interest seems to have sparked plans for a Hindi remake. According to sources, Rajkummar Rao is rumoured to play the lead in the Bollywood version.
Rajkummar has already proven his skill in horror-comedy with the Stree franchise, making him an ideal choice for the role. Following his intense performance in Maalik, fans are eager to see him return to a lighter, comic genre.
It remains to be seen whether the remake of Bakasura Restaurant will match the success of Stree or end up like Roohi, which struggled to impress audiences in the same space.
