Ramayana: Rs. 15000 Crores Dream, But Where’s the Hype?

Ramayana Part 1 promotions and box office hype

Ramayana Part 1 is arriving in a month. The movie has already created buzz with its promotional materials. Amid this, discussions have begun about whether it could become one of Indian cinema’s mega blockbusters.

Head of commercialisation for Cinepolis India, Ashish Misra, recently addressed the records made at the Indian box office by Bollywood and Hollywood hits, saying that Ramayana might bring a big change. He said that Indians have grown up listening to the story, and the theme of good against evil is something that connects with the audience.

Ashish mentioned that, considering the scale of the project, it might emerge as the biggest film ever made in India and that it has the potential to take Indian culture and heritage to audiences around the world. Seemingly referring to the film, Ashish said that 2026 has been the best year for Indian films and that, for the first time, the box office numbers will cross Rs. 15,000 crores.

On the other hand, netizens are disappointed with the strategy of the makers to promote the film. Most of them stated that only a few assets have been released, and with only one month left, the makers need to bring more strong material that will increase the buzz for the film.

People pointed out that it is an event film that needs to be celebrated, since it is the story of India, and the producers now have to do something to attract the Indian audience instead of prioritizing validation from the West.

A lot of people even criticized the fact that advance booking has not been opened yet. Social media users said that this is the right time to start advance booking since audiences are already discussing the film and they will not miss the opportunity to witness the magnum opus on the big screen, specifically if the makers provide certain offers with every booking.

A few others even expressed doubts if the makers are not confident about the content that they have created for the audience. Some alleged that this might be the reason that advance booking has not been started because once the negative reviews are out on the first day, the collections will start dropping.

As of now, people are openly claiming that the wrong strategy of the makers is going to bring trouble for them in the end. Now it remains to be seen if the producers will listen to the advice of the audience or prefer to do things the way they have planned.
