Tensions have reportedly emerged between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar after the actor chose to step away from Don 3. What followed was a public blame game that has drawn attention to the financial expectations placed on actors during stalled film projects.
The disagreement escalated when Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani allegedly asked Ranveer Singh to pay Rs 40 crore as compensation. The producers claimed the film suffered losses during pre-production and held the actor responsible for the setback.
Ranveer Singh strongly disputed the demand, stating that he never received any payment from the production. He argued that asking for such a large amount without prior remuneration made the claim unreasonable and unfair.
He further explained that he had dedicated nearly a year preparing for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra. During that period, he declined other offers and focused entirely on the demanding role.
Baiju Bawra was eventually shelved, and Ranveer Singh revealed that he was not compensated for the time and effort invested. He pointed out that uncertainty is a common part of the film industry.
According to him, projects often fail to materialise despite months of preparation. In such cases, losses are shared by everyone involved, making it illogical to single out one person as responsible.
Ranveer Singh also noted that Shah Rukh Khan was in talks for Don 3 at one stage. This led many users to question the producers’ compensation argument, calling it baseless and inconsistent.
