Sanjay Dutt’s horror-action-comedy The Bhootnii has been shifted to May 1, 2025, to steer clear of a clash with Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2 but align with Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2. The revision has been unpopular, as the film’s suspected shortcomings—aged humor, lackluster VFX, and B-grade production values—already invited comparisons with Stree 2.
Critics say that the postponement doesn’t do much to remove these criticisms, with the new clash potentially further watering down its box office chances.

Producer and top star Dutt is in for heat for defying a single release, which would have made the film bigger. The choice to conflict with Devgn, who is his good friend and common co-star (Son of Sardaar 2, Ranger), is a so-called ironic decision considering they work together as partners.
The initially planned April 18 release was shelved, the team citing exhausting VFX work, despite the poor response to its trailer raising eyebrows about its tone balance and visuals.

Starring Palak Tiwari, Sunny Singh, and Mouni Roy, The Bhootnii tries to merge horror and comedy but has raised a few eyebrows about its success. Though the delay saves the day on a confrontation with Kesari 2, the Raid 2 battle now looks more challenging.
Trade analysts ask whether the movie’s campy charm is going to connect with the audience amidst tough competition or whether its “corny” look will discourage audiences. As the fans wait and see, the Dutt-Devgn rumble injects some drama into the summer box office.
