Vijay Devarakonda had a new release in the form of Ranabaali yesterday. The film opened on a moderate note at the ticket counters, and it is currently running in theatres.
But if we come to the parallel discussion on social media, people have been commenting that Vijay must also start going back to soft films like he used to in the past.
Films like Pelli Choopulu, Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade were loved then and brought him closer to a larger section of the audience.
But the current lineup of Vijay is evident that he is looking at larger than life characters, and big scale action films. He might have his reasons to explore this space, but there is also the need to go back to the soft boy era.
Fundamentally speaking, a film with Venky Atluri would be a perfect timing and description for Vijay at this point in time.
A class and sensible film like Lucky Bhaskar would be a perfect identity altering film for Vijay at this point in time. It would not just bring him closer to the family audience, but also be a safe haven from the negative effects he’s facing with these big films.
Venky is the kind of director who can make sensible films with class narration, and this is perhaps a welcome change for Vijay as well, considering that he had also been marinated in big scale films for a while.
This is a space that Vijay can seriously explore sooner than later. This is precisely where Nani had been acting smart for a long time as he had been mixing up his genre of films constantly in order to refresh the expectations of the audience.
